Anyone else sick of these subject lines?

Let’s talk inbox overwhelm. We all have it, and some of the items in my inbox are not only overwhelming but also flat out misleading. Here are a few that were in my inbox in the last week, seriously:

• Let’s talk about 3 ways speakers can get FAMOUS!

• This 1 Thing will make you RICH!

• My dad just shut off explicit content on Spotify!

Wait, how’d that last one get in there? Ok skip that (and, I might actually read that email, so let’s put a pin in it).

My point is that there are a LOT of ‘lifestyles of the rich and famous’ and ‘why-aren’t-you-doing-this-sure-fire-thing’ emails out there.

There are all kinds of promises and get-rich-quicks and only YOU can decide where to point your energy. If these emails resonate with you, GREAT (and, I’m happy to help you figure out your Spotify settings). But maybe you can see that while they get your attention, they leave out some substance in these Cinderella stories.

There is WORK and considerable effort that it takes to get to these levels. Work that you can do, of course, and work that you can outsource. When you are focused on your zone of genius, it’s not easy to fit in more time to find opportunities, locate the networking that will matter to you, connect with referral partners, and get you in front of your ideal clients.

And remember, you don’t need to fly solo to get famous, get rich or listen to what you want on Spotify. There are resources out there to help you with opportunities, networking, connections and lead generation. In a real, meaningful, impactful way.
